A New Drug for Obesity -

Novo Nordisk, a Danish pharmaceutical company, announced positive results from a clinical trial of its obesity drug Wegovy, showing that it can reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in overweight and obese patients. The drug, a once-a-week injection, mimics (yep.) a gut hormone that suppresses appetite and increases calorie expenditure. It was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in June 2022. NirogGyan - Krsnaa Diagnostics

Krsnaa Diagnostics Setback -

In a major setback, Krsnaa Diagnostics, a prominent listed diagnostic service provider in India, experienced a share price drop of over 10% after the Rajasthan National Health Mission (NHM) terminated its contract. The NHM cited non-compliance with contract terms. The contract, valued at ₹1,332.36 crore, covered radiology and pathology services in numerous healthcare facilities of Rajasthan Govt. This cancellation, constituting about 18% of the company's FY21 revenue, poses a significant challenge following their recent IPO, where shares had initially soared but subsequently declined by around 40%. So business as usual.

NirogGyan - Hospital News

Health Authority Shocks -

The Bulandshahr district administration and health department in Uttar Pradesh, India, sealed 11 hospitals, two pathology labs, and a private clinic for operating without registration. The action was taken after a surprise inspection by a team of officials, who found that the facilities were violating the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010. The health department also issued notices to the owners of the facilities and warned them of legal action.

This kind of action from the healthcare department is rarely seen, good that they have started to curb non-compliant establishments.

Thymus Study

Thymus, The T-Cell factory -

ScienceDaily, an online scientific study publisher - reported on a new study that revealed the unexpected importance of the thymus in adults. The thymus is a small organ in the chest that produces immune cells called T cells during childhood.

It was previously thought that the thymus gradually shrinks and becomes inactive after puberty. However, the study, led by researchers from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Australia, found that the thymus continues to produce new T cells throughout adulthood and that its function is essential for preventing cancer and autoimmune diseases.

The study also suggested that boosting thymus function could enhance immunity and longevity. Imagine finding a cure for longevity that was inside you all along.
